Yuki Onna / 及川 氷麗 l Tsurara Oikawa Photoshoot ❤ Nurarihyon no Mago [ ぬらりひょんの孫 ]

Hello ~ 

A while ago, I have a 1 week long holiday and I've decided to (finally, urgh ) take a look at my OLD Yuki Onna shoot folder. Which was done ages ago T__T (sorry Ee-chan and Wen-chan - despite all of your hard work , it really took me a while to sieve through it and decide which one are representative enough of Tsurara T__T ) 

For those of you who are not familiar with the series and character, here's an introductory ;D 

The series is  

Nurarihyon no Mago [ ぬらりひょんの孫 ]

And the character I cosplayed is Tsurara :3

Why her ? Why the series ? 

Because I friggin love her character design and I really really loved youkai stories x'D !! Speaking of which, Nurarihyon is a pretty good one ;) I've always loved youkai animes/mangas since I was introduced to anime. Afterall, my first DECENT , more serious/adult themed anime (not counting doraemon, sailormoon, wedding peach, conan etc) is InuYasha :3 after that, moving on to anime with more traditional/ youkai-nmyouji themes are just pretty much an enjoyable experience ^^ I find youkai manga enticing for reasons I cant explain myself - maybe its the story ? the mythical theme ? But yup - Anything from Natsume Yuujinchou, Akaya Akashiya Ayakashi no ,  Black Bird , and many many more are a pretty fun read :3

Also , I'm not sure why but so far , I noticed that I really like more traditional-ish costumes compared to brighter flashier modern costumes. Lookingback, I really loved my senbonzakura and yukata-based costumes >,< !! 

Speaking of Tsurara , finding and deciding on her lenses was .... torturous :(

The reason being, her eyes are bright yellow in colour in her youkai form , and dark blue in her non-youkai form (she's still a youkai, but she's per say not in 'attack-mode'  I guess) . What makes thing difficult is the pattern. Her eyes have this hypnotic circular pattern to it. Initially, I've ordered this pair of yellow lens because the yellow is striking enough for it to be visible in a distance and the black limbus does give sufficient enlarging effects. 

Then after getting those lenses

, I actually found one lens with more accurate pattern QAQ;

At first, I was super happy , because it wasnt easy to find exact replica of the lenses. But then after finding reviews and thinking for a while I realized that there may be a few problems with the lenses . There are so many rings on the left lens such that it wont show on pictures unless a close up is done. But for the right lens, the pattern is actually pretty close and the only thing I have about it is the lack of limbus and the fact that it has a smaller diameter and no limbus and thus may not be as big as the first yellow lens. I was torn to death on deciding whether I should get this lens. 

Although in the end , after I weighed in the fact that the yellow is more visible in the first lens ( after digging for a review from sb who bought the spiral lens and mentioned that the yellow is not so visible from a distance and the pattern is not even close to noticeable from a few metres T___T ) and counting in budget and schedule crunch  T___T I've decided to go through with the photoshoot with the first lens first... *cryingariver* *cryingtearsofblood*. 

(sorry for the poor cos photo quality ^^ photo above is not processed and its just a selfie that I thought was nicely taken hehehe so I decided to upload it although its not exactly relevant to the cos series . And because I was BROKE OTL... I made the hair accessories from scraps I have hoarded, painted it and attched hair pins on the bottom side :3 --> as you can see OTL... *poorstudent*) 

Would have loved to have a shoot at a Japanese house / venue T__T 

Its sad because I have not found such a place yet T_T

(I want to fly to Japan and do a shoot there QnQ)

placed myself at a super awkward angle here and the hair was such a horrible thing to manage. Thanks to my lil sis who help prop my head before I lie down so the hair is not as messy as it could have been =A="" believe it or not my feet was like dangling weirdly off the platform OTL

Anyway ,I'm really dying to do a shoot for Tsurara's blue eyed school version and a proper outdoor shoot if possible - am looking for the right time to do it as of now *sigh* Hope I'll be free soon enough else my cosplans are just going to pile up T_T Sometimes I cant even remember what did I buy a specific type of cloth for *sigh*

Oreimo Cosplay Photoshoot - Goko Ruri 五更 瑠璃 / Kuroneko

Hello~ Happy belated CNY ~
Hope you've had an awesome holidays ^^ 

Today's entry is about Kuroneko's shoot . Kuroneko is a character from Oreimo 
Oreimo is short for 

Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai 
俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない
which means "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute" 

The character I cosed was Kuroneko 
This, below is the default version :'( wanted to go hardcore mode and shot 3 versions at 1 sessions since its a rare indoor studio session which otherwise wont be so affordable :P but sadly my default cos didnt arrive on time :( so next time for this...

However, I managed to cos the meido version and my friend Spinelo agreed to lend me her costume for the shoot !!! :D So in addition to the meido version, 

 managed to cos the pseudo- kimono / yukata version too :D 

during the shoot, we have pleeenty of people crammed in xD and luckily my senpais and my fellow batchmates kindly allowed me to hog some space for a while ^^ hahaha , else I wont get some nice shots which has a chance of happening in like 1 in a 100 OTL...

My first reaction when I arrived was 

"WAH NICE CURTAIN" !! 

so we tried to replicate this scene below here 

it turned out like this... 

Im admitting that Im really getting too old to cos the likes of Kuroneko T_T 

(which is why Im aiming to do as much cos as possible right now because I know the amount of time I have for cosing is just going to decrease as I enter the workforce in my field - healthcare :'(  - wondered how Misako Aoki juggled it since she's be almost as busy as most healthcare workers T___T ;;; ) 

upper angle is not so bad but Im not really happy about how the lighting turns out... a bit too glaring :( but we tried out best ^^ (yay) and I had awesome fun drg the shoot, ESPECIALLY because I get to meetup and catch up with some friends too !!!!

And because I have to leave T___T so my seniors and friends very nicely gathered and took photo so we can have a complete group pic :')))  - ( on a hindsight, looking at this pic I think one of my girl friend is missing from the pic tho ... OxO; ) 

Would love to thank every single person - my friends, senpais and everyone in my school's cosplay society who had helped make this shoot possible ^^ without these awesome people cosplay scene in my school will be close to non existent or plain boring - they have regular makan sessions (which I never attended sadly because of my schedule) , prop making sessions and exciting group shoots :) !!! They are also an awesome bunch who will gladly help with advice when cos is concerned ;D Im glad I get to met them and join the club at the beginning of my first year - else, I'd probably have not learned as much  :) 

So Thank you minna-san, for helping me learn so much 

and I hope to learn more and do better the next time around ^^

TOHO 東方Project Cosplay Shoot - Yuyuko Saigyouji 西行寺 幽々子

Heya ｡◕‿◕｡

today I'll be writing about my Yuyuko Shoot :3  which was like freaking long ago hahahaha ^^ ""Anyway , before I go there, during the recent new year I saw many people making a compilation of their shoot throughout the year , so I decided to jump into the fray and make one as well since I had more free time during the holiday :3 And it turned out like this - your normal photo collage - I did this in a rush and - to begin with - had no idea how to design a pretty collage anyway hahahaha xD ( talentless at scrapbooking) 

It kinda surprised me that I actually did 10 shoots in total with 12 costumes ( 2 of the costumes, meido kuroneko and default izuna isnt in the compilation) . I didnt realize that I actually did quite a few - an average of roughly one per month !! Hope next year will be the same or not as bad Q___Q ... Anyway, I started school on 28th December and had a semi-huge exam on 9th January ( Sadlife) and now , Im mugging like crazy again for my FINAL YEAR exam in 1.5 weeks time approximately =___= needless to say, Im dying slowly and am deathly afraid... At times like this , I really really REALLY wanted to just sieve through the PILES of shoot pictures I have and single out the decent ones . ( Its when I need to study MOST that my brain start to think that cleaning the house, cooking , or ANYTHING unrelated to studying is EXTREMELY interesting  ) 
Sadly, I do admit that I have to study :'( 
So yea, I'll continue to try to blog weekly as my new year promise indicated ... bit by bit ... but I dont think I can churn out much pictures hahaha xD its final years after all.. T__T (wishing I'm one of those smart people who somehow managed to chill quite a bit even before exam) 

Anyway, pardon my digression. Lets continue with the topic of this post 

Yuyuko's shoot !

Yuyuko is one of the character from a popular shooter game TOHO Project  ( or some people would like to spell Touhou / Touho ) :3 Its  basically a shooter game thats

with Music Composed by a single artist : JUN 
and to top it off, if you're not used to it , toho is NOT easy to play ٩(●~▿~●)۶

(such an awesome japanese polymath (◐ω◑ ) )  

and here below is Yuyuko's original character Illustration by JUN 

The thing about Toho is, the character and story is more or less much more open to interpretation ;3 and the design is actually very pretty :3 As you can see, some fanart turn out to be really beautiful

To make things simple for non-TOHO fans , background wise, Yuyuko is the ruler of Hakugyokurou , the Netherland for Toho Universe. Kinda like Hades in Greek mythology or Hel in Norse mythology in soooome way if that makes it easier to understand ^^ Her hobby is eating (almost anything that tastes nice) and sleeping /lazing around ^^

Actually got the cake at 1.5 from Cold Storage 

- HAHAHA -

and added the strawberries ourselves. 

They were on DISCOUNT !!!!! LOLOLOLLL Korean strawberries are the best ! (The USA ones seem too sour for my taste and I have not tasted Japanese ones T__T *digression auntie * ) ^^ The cupcakes and pastries were from a bakery opposite my HDB  block LOL. For Yuyuko's shoot, we did both indoor and outdoor shoot, so for indoor shoot we focused mainly on her 'foodie' aspect :) - the best thing about indoor shoot is AIRCON !!

In addition, because the shoot was indoor, we can start in the morning, have lunch and THEN venture out to shoot. I remembered that day , I had Indomie for lunch because .... err.. we're rushing before my face melted basically ^^ hehehe...

The bad thing about an indoor shoot when you dont have a proper flash /studio is the lighting is freaking shitty.... Ee-chan (my photog) and I wish for that one day we can buy a proper flash , background etc and set up a small studio for indoor shoot T__T... 

Outdoor shoot at the right timing of the day meanwhile can give you awesome lighting ^6 However, I do worry more about outdoor shoot because, the moment you stepped out to do a shoot, you have to worry about so many things from forgetting a prop , broken prop , etc to melting make up - which is a potential disaster at times ^^" I have to bring the usual arsenal of emergency kit (safety pins , hair pins , emergency sewing kit etc etc etc ) before I feel safe . 

At one point of time , I was sitting on grass for a pose and were quite worried about ants and insects T___T In the end we managed to take the shot but I was deathly worried about the insects during the pose itself....

Changed the colour scheme of most outdoor shots since I want to try to replicate the 'netherworld' feel (hahaha hopefully 2 years down the road I wont return and feel this is damn embarassing and fail ^^)  

That's all for my Yuyuko shoot :3 still have some that I've yet to see .. Going to slowly sift through whenever Im free hahaha

A Quick Update !!! :)

Heyo~ 

sorry for having disappeared for so very long >,< 

Believe it or not, my schedule have been crazy for the past few months (and its getting crazier) 

so now that I have some time to update this space ^^ I'm just gonna post some pictures from my recent shoot (thank god I still have time for some cosplay xD grateful xD ) !!

Anyway , here it is  : )

The character is Yuyuko Saigyouji (basically , she's a ghost who likes to eat - to make things horribly simple ^^ hahaha ) Yuyuko is a character from TOUHOU Project , a very fun (but quite a challenging T-T) shooter game developed by JUN ;D 

I'm trying my best to adjust and adapt so that I can update this space more often :3 

Hopefully I can manage this crazier schedule soon :)

CNY Shoot - Macross Frontier - Ranka Lee - Nyan Nyan Cafe version. ♥

Heya people ~ 

Recently , it was Chinese New Year (CNY) and I was thinking of doing some chinese-related shoot and so the one who came to my mind first is  Ranka-chan !! :D

one of the best mecha series out there alongside the gundam series ;D

This however, is not Ranka's default outfit ! :3

She wore this only for a section in the anime series where she's promoting/making a commercial(CM) about a Chinese Restaurant called Nyan Nyan Cafe ;D (which exist in the anime :3)

To be honest, it was quite a hectic week for me . A terrible terrible hectic week ! >3< 

I ended up renting the wig just to be able to shoot on that one free slot I have on that CNY week >3<

It was a terribly hot day 

as you can see from the picture below --> the scorching sun caused all that brightness!!

My photog friend Xian Yang asked if he could eat it earlier on the shoot (wahahahaha) 

which of course he can ;D

BUT !!!

The dim sum and bao dropped halfway of the shoot xD so there goes...

(LOL)

The steamer - DAISO is a very cheap source ;D thanks to Natalie and XY for helping me with regards to this as I was actually not quite familiar as to where to find a bamboo steamer initially :3

To the photogs Ee-chan and XY, thanks so much for bracing the unforgiving heat (and my complaints ^^" tee hee... I have to admit that I complained quite a lot drg the shoot because the garden was PACKED FULL of people on that day and some of them are just ... impolite *loooooongsigh* luciky we managed to go through the day quite uneventfully ;D and managed to get some nice shots too ^^ )

My experience with this shoot was really fun LOL! 
It was good that XY was really friendly despite this being our first shoot together x'D !! 
Else, it could have been a really awkward and quiet shoot :P 
When you have a photog like this below : 

Kinda confirmed the shoot will be quite fun ;D 

Also, there's a group of Turkish tourists and one chinese gentleman who were very polite when they wanted a picture. The chinese gentleman actually asked nicely for a picture and told me that he wanted it for her daughter , who liked anime :3 

Since I'm talking about this, I just want to jot down some thoughts about what happened during this particular shoot :(( The turkish tourists  were looking at our group with interest since Im in cosplay. 
During the shoot I was rather upset when some people (especially this group of men)  purposely walked closer and closer to us and then circle aimlessly around us and even took picture without permittion when I'm obviously glaring =_="" I was pretty upset to the extent that I actually spoke out quite loudly so that they can hear me saying sth along the line of " It is really impolite to take pictures from that distance and walk closer to us!!!! " . 

These turkish group of tourists heard me and actually, although they were not the group that circled and walked pass us but rather, only expressed interest , they actually bothered to ask nicely for a picture after that. 

Meanwhile, the group of people who circled us continued doing circling us --> one person even followed us to the top of the pagoda and passed by us like 3-4 times =_="""  (we stayed in one spot =_="" its very suspicious when this man continues circling us =_="" ) . 

If they wanted a picture, shy or not shy, its IMPOLITE to take pictures when Im clearly glaring at them and showing that Im pissed off and doesnt want any pictures to be taken,  :( .
IF they ask nicely, Im pretty sure most cosplayers will even smile and pose for them ! Imagine going out there and seeing some people randomly taking pictures of you without permition ? :( Some people online argued with the old : " you dressed that way you deserved it" --> ah, so if you're wearing bikini at the beach and people start taking picture of you its ok I assume ? Or the tamer : " so if you're walking along orchard road with unusual but covered clothing its allright for people to take pictures of you?" 
NO. You have eyes, yes you can see, but there's a difference between a polite curious look and a lecherous ridiculing look =_="" 

Anyway, was nice to see some sakura branches deco in the garden that day ;D !!

Immediately ran to it to take pic lol !!!

End of shoot, I was feeling terribly dehydrated, tired, and of course hungry >3< 

so I didnt even bother to take off my buns and QiBao. 

I ended up eating at MOS Burger in that attire LOL!! xD hahaha

Overall, its a very fun shoot x'D

I learned to rush things with 

'ok' results even more I guess :P considering how rushed this shoot was given that I really dont have the luxury of time T3T But yep, I learned to emergency-DIY some props within a short period of time *evilsmirk* and I am actually quite happy because there are quite a few of good pics from the bunch that we managed to take :D

Will be sieveing more of the pictures soon and hope I'll have time to sieve through considering my lappie is pretty damn slow when it comes to opening heavy picture files *sigh*

Meanwhile, 

YEP! I just changed my FB Cover page to Senbonzakura's shoot because I really liked the shot !! Added in some sakura (because the background is kinda sadly sparse  T_T) and neon effects from PS (which took quite long because I initially didnt know how to add it at all and as you can see the loop line is drawn with mouse thus the wavering on the line hurhur... T3T ) .

I update my fb more often as I get busier nowadays because its the easiest and quickest to upload for me :3
