Tantanmen ❤ Baikohken @ Ngee Ann City

Hello ~

Life's been really busy lately with hectic ,packed schedule and exams after exams .. ( Lifestyle for healthcare workers ^^"" hahaha ) but I'm trying my best !! Havent really gotten the chance to eat many varieties of ramen recently thus - I've been nomming Sanpoutei because its both close to my house and because its delish! A while back though I've had the chance to drop by Orchard , so Ee-chan and I decided to try Baikohken  !

Baikohken has a branch at Ngee Ann City Basement :)
Right at the back near Cold Storage !

picture from Baihkohken's page

We decided to order their Tantanmen for that day ;D
craving for some Szechuan "ma-la" on that day ;3

And woo..

When it arrived,
it looks like it was going to be one spicy ride ^^"
I love chilli , but
I started doubting myself...

(I mean , look at that soup !! )
Soup
The soup was quite hearty and thick. Pretty spicy although  I didnt get as much "ma" (the numbing sensation you get on your tongue when eating szechuan pepper) , not sure if its the intended flavor :3 Love the heartiness !

Noodle
The noodle is thick and springy ;3 texture is pretty nice !

The chashu came in a separate dish with beansprouts , bamboo shoots and eggs !!

Chashu
Chashu has some parts that are soft and some that are tougher. If I'd want to compare some other ramen stores surely had better chashu compared to this although the slices a Baikohken is pretty huge (2 big slices). That being said , Sanpoutei is pretty generous with their chashu too and the chashu are generally juicier.

Eggs
Felt that the eggs are slightly overcooked :( Half the yolk are quite hard with only one part of the centre remaining sligtly gooey after being prodded :( Would want more manirate on it too if possible :'( or maybe its just my own preferences

Bamboo shoot
The bamboo shoot is pretty tasty and decent :)

Now gyoza :3
we got a plate f gyoza (with 4 pieces , Ee-chan ate one before I can get a picture hahaha ) We both feel that the gyoza is [retty nice but the skin was a tad tough and chewy :x Nevertheless tne filling was juicy and well seasoned ;D The outer skin was crispy too ;D

from Baikohken's page

So overall will I go to Baikohken again ?
Well , maybe yes if I pass by the area :3 Will I purposely make a trip down to orchard from my house in the edge of Singapore to eat this though ? Maybe not unless I'm pretty free that week ^^ Overall I feel that Baikohken's ramen are delish although maybe a tad overpriced for what I can get elsewhere (maybe its the rental fee at orchard too :// ) If I come back , it will probably be for the soup and noodle rather than the topping itself as different ramen store do have different noodlesto expect ;3

So thats my experience at Baikohken :3

Hope its helpful

Maze Soba ❤ Sanpoutei Ramen @ Holland Village

Hello :D
I've not reviewed ramen recently hehehe...
but I'm still and have been eating them regularly LOL
And recently , I found myself eating at Sanpoutei quite often because they serve decent ramen and they're quite close to my place ;D

Basically , they're from Niigata as they mentioned under their logo :3 Most of the pictures here without my logo are obtained from their facebook *here* ;D so feel free to visit it for updates ^^ hehehe I suppose this picture below is their original shop at Niigata

At Holland Village, you'll find this one though :D Much more modern looking :D but nice ramen nevertheless !

I've only realized recently that I have NOT written any diary entry about Sanpoutei QAQ !!! I feel pretty horrible ( am I getting lazy ? or is it just that their food is so nice I actually always forgot to take pic T__T ) So anyway, I figure I might as well start with something I've ordered more than a few times at Sanpoutei

Their
❤ Maze Soba ❤

Ok. Let me get this straight. I was SKEPTICAL about this from the beginning. I especially LOVES spicy ramen and at Sanpoutei, the ramen I ordered most often last time was their Kara-Miso (this one below)

I love everything about that one ( will write more about it in a separate post )
But Ee-chan was ALWAYS ordering Maze Soba whenever he's there and so one fine day I decided to give it a try since I was starving that day and the 1.5x noodle portion kinda tempted me and so...

❤ My Maze Soba ❤
Dont ask me why its called soba. I tried researching it from google but I cant find anything about it except for the fact that it just means "mixed soba" and the original name was "abura soba" T_T anyway, here's it

It comes as a big bowl of ramen with a bowl of soup

Look at that pretty bowl :3

Topped with chopped ❤ Cha Shu ❤
Menma  , Ajitsuke tamago, negi and nori ~~

Cha Shu
Ee-chan joked that this may be the misshapen leftover cha shu after cutting the big blocksof cha shu for the other ramen since maze sobais about 10-20% cheaper than the other full topping ramen set. To be honest i dont know, and I dont care , because they're tasty xD ! Of course you dont get a big slab of cha shu like if you have ordered kara miso but this is more or less the same ;D just chopped into cubes :D

The Menma, Nori , Ajitsuke Tamago
I have some qualms about the ajitsuke tamago - they're not consistent :( Some days the flavor is strong, some day its not . But overall sanpoutei's ajitamago is pretty well done already except for some bad days. The nori and menma are usually always consistent except for one day when its a bit too soft but overall nicely done :D

The Soup
The soup is pretty thick and has a strong punch of flavours . Its basically like a strong broth. I usually only add 1-2 spoon of this soup to the noodle before mixing the noodle so its not too runny (I like strong flavors) , but I guess if you want to tone down the flavor , you can always add more soup because the noodle itself aleady has some concentrated sauce mixed in with it :3

Before Mixing

❤ After Mixing ❤
Look at them noodle
I think in my past life I never tasted noodle or just see a lot of people eating noodle but never had a chance to taste it because in this lifetime, I can vouch for my love for good noodle. I'll take noodle anytime over rice - unless its koshihikari, I'll probably consider it erhm...

The Noodle
I love Sanpoutei noodle ❤ they have the right firmness and bounciness ( that pleasant "chew" ) to them ^^ It goes really well with the maze soba sauce and the other ramen (kara miso , shoyu etc) that they have:D

Anyway for Sanpoutei , their shop decor is pretty nice :3 If you arrive at the right time, you can actually watch them prepare their noodle from scratch LOL especially if you sit near the entrance :3 I've watched them make noodle twice and it was at night if I didnt recall wrongly ^^  I've been there so often that one of the waitress actually guessed our order one of the day and Ee-chan burst out laughing , embarassed because it just meant we' visited so often she can remember us x'D Speaking about noodle again, I've never taken a pic of the noodle making but Sanpoutei has them in their facebook so here you go :D

Deliciousness in the making xD

Anyway yup, that my experience with Sanpoutei with regards to their Maze Soba :3
Its about $14 if Im not wrong and it taste pretty good ;D Will write more again about Sanpoutei once I visit them again for their Kara Miso (Im kinda missing it now that I've been eating Maze Soba for some time )

Hope this is useful :D

Tamoya Udon ❤ Liang Court & Monoyono ❤ Dhoby

Kyahoo~~

Firstly , I've got a bad case of Sinusitis today !! =[]=!!

Why ? My Sinusitis flare up during rain / in dusty condition and it rained heavily this morning .. , so... I'm feeling pretty dead right now =_=""" .... For some reasons , I'm facing the heat from the Blogger Daily Challenge too now - I'm planning to do many products reviews over the next few days since I wont be going out a lot  until Ee-chan's exams are over (because going out alone is sad T_T ) So my life is very uninteresting now

Wake up - Skyrim - Cook/lunch  - accompany Ee-chan study while SKyrim-ing - Draft blog post - Skyrim - Cook/dinner - Skyrim - SLeep :P

❤ ♡ ❤

Anyway , I got treated to Tamoya Udon !! So I'm going to post about it today ;D

For J-Food fans out there, Tamoya Udon's opening in SG must have excited you ~ ;D

❤ ♡ ❤

Ee-chan have been to japan and he told me that apparently , Tamoya Udon is sth like fast food in Japan =[]= I mean 'huh' !!! This !?? Fast Food ?? How can you compare this to McD/KFC? O.o""""

Anyway , basically they have 3 main menus :
1. Udon
2. Tempura
3. Side Menu

For Udon alone, they have different kinds of Udon ! :D

Somehow , when I went to Liang Court , I didnt spot the Curry/Pork/Beef Udon option O.o .. Maybe they werent serving them that day .. tough luck .. OTL... I would have loved to try the Curry Udon TAT

❤ ♡ ❤

My Kake Udon ! :D

❤ ♡ ❤

The Tempura is a bit pricey I think ,

I choose these (Eggplant , kani stick ) the pickles , Oroshi and Konbu is free :3

❤ ♡ ❤

Overall I think the Udon is pretty nice albeit a tad expensive ^^"" but its Jap food lah , and its a healthier option compared to Fast Foods like Macs etc (for about the same price if you buy  a set at Macs/KFC) so why not ?

They have a facebook page if you're interested ;D

Tamoya Udon at Liang Court

Handmade udon and broth from home of udon - Sanuki. Have yours today with our freshly made tempura toppings! Tamoya was established in the home of udon, Sanuki (now known as Kagawa) prefecture in 1996 by Sanuki udon champion, Tamotsu Kurokawa.
Tamoya Singapore is first in Southeast Asia and also first overseas outlet!

Brought all the way from Tamoya Japan, from Kagawa prefecture, Sanuki udon is hand-crafted from Tamoya's proprietary flour mixture (made from 3 different flour) and is served with "golden dashi" broth.
Come down now to enjoy Tamoya's healthy and tasty udon with a variety of toppings!

Anyway , here is my OOTD/LOTD for that day ^^" didnt bother to wear lenses/make up because I was rushing and I had school when I went there

❤ ♡ ❤

I also dropped by Dhoby to shop and I found this very Interesting shop !! :D

Very Attention catching Rabbit !! xD

❤ ♡ ❤
